It was an honour to host the Permanent Secretary Mr Thomas Ushe at Cotecna’s Wimpey labs.
Dr. T.U. Wushe, Permanent Secretary of the Zimbabwe Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MoIC), made his first official visit to Cotecna’s Wimpey Laboratories in Dubai. The visit provided an opportunity for Dr. Wushe to tour the facilities and see first-hand how Cotecna carries out verification services under the Ministry’s Consignment-Based Conformity Assessment (CBCA) program.
Dr. Thomas Utete Wushe and Mr. Patrick Thomas Tuluzawu from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MoIC)were warmly welcomed by Dr. Chandrajith, the CEO of Wimpey Labs, along with Mrs. Blanche, our Sales Representative, and Mr. Hussain, the Operations Manager.
Wimpey Laboratories, which holds ISO certification, is renowned for its stringent quality control processes that meet internationally recognized standards. This certification offers a solid foundation for Cotecna’s testing, inspection, and certification services. The laboratory’s accreditation further reinforces its role in safeguarding the quality of Zimbabwe’s imports through the facilitation of the CBCA program.
The permanent secretary was able to witness the key imports from Dubai to Zimbabwe, such as fertilizers, machinery, and electrical equipment , undergo meticulous verification by Wimpey Labs. He engaged with senior Cotecna staff to better understand the laboratory's operations, which play a critical role in ensuring the compliance of goods with global standards. These procedures not only enhance product quality but also promote trade efficiency by reducing non-compliance risks at Zimbabwe’s borders.
The visit of Dr. Wushe to Wimpey Labs is a testament to the growing collaboration between Cotecna and the Zimbabwean government in upholding quality standards for regulated products imported into Zimabwe.
